This week on #FacesofFavour we chatted with one of our favorite foodies, chefs, & recipe developers, Romilly Newman. Check out the full Q&A below!
Q: Tell us who you are, where you're from, and what you do!
A: My name is Romilly Dauphin Newman, I’m from New York City, and I do a variety of things within the food industry. I started a food blog at the ridiculously precocious age of eleven, and have been working within the food world in various capacities since then. I was on the first teen episode of Chopped when I was thirteen, and did a number of TV segments throughout my childhood/teen years. Then I grew up, and now I work as a food stylist and recipe developer for brands such as Great Jones, Cherry Bombe, Well + Good, and EyeSwoon. I’m currently developing my first hospitality project which I’m incredibly excited about and I see it as the beginning of my foray into the hospitality and lifestyle world. This is something I’ve been plotting for a while. I care a tremendous amount about thoughtful food and design experiences. With this project, I hope to create a beautiful and unique type of space that doesn’t exist currently.
Q: How would your friends describe you?
A: Painfully honest, spontaneous, ready for fun, no bullshit, and all of my friends call me their step mom.
Q: What’s one thing you’re passionate about?
A: I’m passionate about a lot of things, but I think they’re all under the same umbrella. My real passion is taste. Whether that’s in food, design, fashion, or hospitality, I think taste is universal and has many different forms. My true passion is creating thoughtful, beautiful, and delicious things for others to enjoy.
Q: What does self-care look like to you?
A: To me, self care is about balance and listening to your mind/body. I think eating a huge slice of chocolate cake is just important as having a green juice. At the end of the day, I believe that self care is enjoying your life and doing what feels good to you in the moment, whether it's having tequila with friends or staying home and doing a face mask. But no matter what, always moisturize ( your neck too!) and drink plenty water.
Q: How have you integrated Favour into your everyday routine?
A: Favour has instantly become a vital part of my everyday routine. I have dealt with severe anxiety and stress for the majority of my life, and struggled with everyday highs and lows. For a while, I had a hard time finding a healthy and controlled answer to my everyday stress. I love Favour because its so easy to take and offers instant relief.
Q: When do you use Favour?
A: I keep it in my purse and use it whenever I see fit, usually twice a day. Morning and early evening.
Q: What’s your current favorite song?
A: Anything ABBA :)
Q: What’s your favorite snack?
A: My mom was raised in France, and there, snacking culture isn’t really a thing, so I think she passed that mindset down to me unknowingly. I definitely inherited her ethos when it comes to eating. I have really delicious and generous meals, but minimal snacks in between.
Q: Lastly, How do you do yourself a Favour?
A: Spending time alone. I try to have one day a week where I spend the majority of the day on my own. I think having one on one time with yourself is essential for refocusing and understanding how you really feel. New York is so hectic and life can be so full of distractions. Only when I’m alone can I really let go and see clearly.
